Privacy Policy for StuddyBuddy

StuddyBuddy (“the App”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the StuddyBuddy application.


1. Overview

StuddyBuddy allows users to scan documents containing handwritten notes and remove that handwriting from the document.

To provide this functionality, scanned documents are temporarily transmitted to a third-party web service, handwritingremoval.com, for processing.

StuddyBuddy itself does not collect, store, or retain personal data. Documents can be backuped in an encrypted manner.

3. Personal Data We Process

StuddyBuddy does not collect or store personal data.

However, when you use the handwriting removal feature, the scanned document image may contain personal data, depending on the document’s content. This data is:

  • Provided directly by the user

  • Processed only for the requested handwriting removal

  • Not stored or retained by StuddyBuddy


4. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Article 6)

Document images are processed solely for the purpose of removing handwritten content.

The legal basis under GDPR is:

  • Article 6(1)(b) – Performance of a contract
    Processing is necessary to provide the service requested by the user.

Where applicable, processing may also rely on:

  • Article 6(1)(a) – User consent, as the user actively initiates the upload and processing of the document.


5. Third-Party Processing

StuddyBuddy uses the third-party service handwritingremoval.com to perform handwriting removal.

  • Document images are transmitted only when the user initiates processing

  • The third party acts as an independent data processor

  • StuddyBuddy does not control how long the third party retains data

Users are encouraged to review the privacy policy of handwritingremoval.com to understand their data handling practices.


6. Data Transfers Outside the EU

The third-party service used for handwriting removal may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where applicable, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards in accordance with GDPR Chapter V, including contractual or technical protections implemented by the third-party provider.


7. Data Retention

StuddyBuddy does not retain:

  • Scanned documents

  • Personal data

  • Only Processed documents can be backuped in an encrypted manner if the user chooses to. Due to the nature of the forms those documents should not contain any private information.

Any retention of data by the third-party service is governed solely by their privacy policy.


8. Data Subject Rights (GDPR Articles 12–23)

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data

  • Rectify inaccurate data

  • Request erasure of data

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Data portability

  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent applies)

Because StuddyBuddy does not store or control personal data, requests related to document processing must be directed to the relevant third-party service.


9. Security Measures

StuddyBuddy takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure secure transmission of documents to the third-party service. No user data is stored on StuddyBuddy servers.


10. Children’s Privacy

StuddyBuddy does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. As no personal data is stored or profiled, the App is designed to comply with child privacy requirements.


11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal or functional changes. Any updates will be indicated by a revised “Last updated” date.
